When our son left home for college, I was left wondering, "So what now? Perhaps I could be a Walmart Greeter?" Then I thought to myself, 'What do we work so hard for anyway?'
Lloyd, my husband, was a Fire Medic at the time. Retirement was still seven years away. So there I sat pondering life, wondering how the next chapter would be. It finally dawned on me that I needed a way to grow our food and medicines...easily!
My name is Gina. I have been an Herbalist for over 30 years, and have grown food & medicines the old fashion way...in the dirt. Here in Alabama, that means a lot of heat, drought, bugs and wildlife, all of which takes a toll on your harvest...not to mention all the added aches and pains.

So I began to do some research and found there's a new game in town... Aquaponics!
Aquaponics is a way of growing food by the use of fish waste water. The fish water is simply pumped into the grow beds and then it returns clean back to the fish pond.
At the time there was very little information out there, so I sat down and designed our Aquaponics system. My background is in Art and Design. My husband, Lloyd's, background is in Architecture. We both received our degrees from Auburn University. So we're a nice match when it comes to design and building, especially since my husband can do pretty much anything. So I designed our system and then thrust the drawings into his hands and said, "Now figure it out."
This is the story of our journey which includes Aquaponics and other useful relevant information that will hopefully encourage, expand and demonstrate some of the amazing possibilities that exist in our world.

Genesis 2:15 Then the LORD God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it.
